Is this the right product for me?

I am looking for something similar to IBM's Lotus Approach, which allows a total database idiot like myself to create and interface to a database by creating views and forms for data entry and report generation. I used this for a non-profit I am involved in until Approach became obsolete.

My database needs are very simple; I am just looking for something that I can enter details about a person for contact lookups, registration, and related uses. I would really prefer not to know much about the inner programming and workings of a database, other than creating fields with appropriate lengths and types.

If my board can access the interface I create to the database over the web that is a plus.

Will AppGini do this for me? Unfortunately, I don't even know the database lingo, so reading a product's feature list does not shed enough light.

Yep, I guess it would. Did you check the video tour? The videos would give you a very good idea about AppGini ... For a start, check the Creating a web database application in 5 minutes, then feel free to explore the other videos on the left menu.

Thanks. Yes, I had already watched most of the relevant ones, and have a good feeling for setting up the database. I also appreciated the last one, since that's the tool I have to connect them. What I did not see was more how to use the database once it was set up. That was the primary--perhaps only--benefit of Approach in my opinion, since all reports and views for data entry were drag and drop GUI based, not text. I could create any kind of output report I wanted, even including form letters and call lists.

I downloaded the trial version to try it out, and I see how to build a simple database. It is very clear and even easy for a noob like me. But I guess I need to actually install it on the web (as shown in the final video) before I can test it from a data entry user's standpoint? Given how limited the trial version is, it would be nice if there was a shortcut method of testing the simple test database created.

By the way, if this is not the right place for this conversation, I understand. I wonder if there is a more sales support-oriented channel or person? I don't mean to waste this group's time.

How about trying the online demo? You can log in using the username "demo" and password "demo" and you'll be able to add, edit and delete records (only the records you add can be edited or deleted).
