Online Database Backup

Post by uchhavi » 2019-04-24 08:07

Hello

I went through the tutotials and backup section.

I think it talks about the backup on of the database stored in the local drive.

I want to take backup of the database on my website. How to do it. and then how to restore it?

I do have a normal way of database backup setup on my site, is there anything special i need to do while backing up for appgini database?
and then restoring it. Please advise.
Best regards,

Chhavi Jain

Hi,
not sure what exactly you are looking for. Usually you should stop your database (or with AppGini you could put it maintenance mode), backup your database and restart your database.
For restore, the same applies.
Any help offered comes with the best of intentions. Use it at your own risk. In any case, please make a backup of your existing environment before applying any changes.

Uchavi,

Here is a blog link that provides instruction on moving your app to a server. In it there is instructions on using the back up process within the the AppGini generated app:
https://bigprof.com/blog/appgini/moving ... ew-server/
An easy process that essentially automates the back up process that is on the tutorial.

Hi Uchavi,

You can FTP into your server and download it no different that if you had created the application on your local machine, did a back up and uploaded to your server. When you FTP into your server switch to the directory where your app is located, switch to the admin folder then backup. You should then see an SQL file with some sort of hash file name an a file extension of .sql, download that file. I hope that helps.

In the admin area > Utilities menu > Database backups. From there, you can create a backup with a button click or restore an existing one. You don't need to put the site in maintenance mode first, as this is done automatically during backup/restore. If you want to download the backup to save it somewhere else, you can find it in admin/backups folder.
 AppGini plugins to add more power to your apps:
  • DataTalk is an innovative AppGini plugin based on ChatGPT that allows you to interact with your AppGini database using natural language questions, without writing any SQL. Check the demo video
  • Mass Update plugin: Update multiple records at once and improve your workflow efficiency.
  • Check our other plugins and get a generous discount of up to 30% when buying 2 or more plugins.
