Do you plan, in future versions, to update to the latest lightbox?

It is now using jQuery. Previously Prototype and Scriptaculous.

I avoided updating it earlier since AppGini used Prototype rather than jQuery .. However, the new versions of AppGini do add support for jQuery, so I'll consider updating lightbox.
