Table grid Edit
Table grid Edit
Hello
I find this application really well.
Is it possible to edit directly in the table? an edit mode directly without using a form.

Re: Table grid Edit
That's not supported currently .. but I may consider adding this in future releases if there is enough demand for it
AppGini plugins to add more power to your apps:
- DataTalk is an innovative AppGini plugin based on ChatGPT that allows you to interact with your AppGini database using natural language questions, without writing any SQL. Check the demo video
- Mass Update plugin: Update multiple records at once and improve your workflow efficiency.
- Check our other plugins and get a generous discount of up to 30% when buying 2 or more plugins.

Hello
Thank you for the answer, I think it would really be a great tool with this feature.

Re: Table grid Edit
I put my vote for this as well, would be useful
Re: Table grid Edit
My favourite RAD program Clarion offered it as a standard feature for all tables. I didn't use it much myself but it would be handy for updating records or adding records with only a few fields. Quikbooks etc., make heavy use of the feature,
Re: Table grid Edit
We have a need for changing multiple records more easily. Having to select each record, making a change, then saving it, is too slow when you've got a lot of records to change.
This grid edit feature would be a nice addition, and at least a step toward making multiple record changes easier.
Ideally, we'd rather have some means of selecting records in a filter page, then having the option of updating, appending, or changing fields in multiple records, either text fields or checkbox fields.
Great product otherwise so far.
Thanks.

Re: Table grid Edit
Sarebbe fantastico! Spero che venga integrata questa funzione nella prossima versione
Re: Table grid Edit
I'm really hoping for the table grid edit functionality in the next release too. It would be really helpful to be able to edit data without having to dive into detail view all the time!
Re: Table grid Edit
I regret announcing that, due to some technical issues, the editable table grid won't make it to the next release, which we're working hard to issue before the end of April .. but it will certainly be the top priority for the following version.

Re: Table grid Edit
Woul'd you mind write a post with the features of the next release? I't could be a great idea to know what features is going to be in the next appgini version (I hope the print master/detail feature will be included)
Another idea, could be make a poll where we can vote for the features we would like to see in the next release of appgini
Thank you.

Re: Table grid Edit
Hi,
Yes I too would like a roadmap and inline editing would be good.
Thanks

Re: Table grid Edit
Anyone that has access to phpMyAdmin can do the sort of editing requested here. And, most hosting providers include phpMyAdmin as one of the main tools for the management of MySQL databases but if yours does not, it is also available as a no-cost open source application. Just load phpMyAdmin, select the database and table you want to work on, use the "browse" feature, and you can then make modifications to any field in any record, just as is being requested in this thread.pasbonte wrote:Hello

like this:....
Even if your host does not provide phpMyAdmin, you can install XAMPP (see: http://www.apachefriends.org), which includes both MySQL and phpMyAdmin on your own computer and then either work on your MySQL database locally, or use the included copy of phpMyAdmin to access the database on your host's system remotely.
Re: Table grid Edit
First time post. So bear with me. dweiss said on the 27th may
that you can alter the dbase in myPHPadmin. Can Appgini handle that.
I thought the cahanges had to be made in Appgini.

Re: Table grid Edit
Hi Jim,
Yep, you can use 3rd party tools, including phpMyAdmin, to edit the database. Your AppGini application would see the updated data normally. However, some fields contain automatic values (like editing date, editor username, .. etc) inserted only when you add/edit records using the AppGini-generated app. Manual editing using 3rd party tools won't apply the automatic values in this case.

Re: Table grid Edit
Meanwhile, thinking about alternatives...
What about using hooks - beforeTableView and afterTableView, or maybe customTableView - that would pass the record set and so forth? Might that allow for someone to tie in one of the available grids, without disrupting the AG core?
Or, an option to "Enable custom table view" that would skip the AG view and require the user to provide their own? Again, without disrupting the AG core.
Or, an option to add a button "Edit using table view" that would start with the AG view but provide an interface widget that would invoke a user-supplied edit mode? No AG core disruption.
One of these approaches might allow AG to develop as-is (more or less) without having to shoulder the burden of an editable grid. If someone comes up with a slick approach, then it could eventually be absorbed into AG.
Clicked submit too soon. I meant to say, such as:

Re: Table grid Edit
Dear appgini users,
Did someone succeed to do this. Help me with some more details
I would want to implement this in my database.

Re: Table grid Edit
+1 For that.
Hope this still on schedule.
Would be even better if we can use bootstrap-table for this.
