SQL query or exiting view as form source

Hi,
instead of using tables only I think it might be nice to have the option to use SQL directly as a form's source.
This might be handy only for display, but can be a starting point for the enduser to click to the details he wants.
(maybe similar to viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2984 )
