Allow Admin to "view as group/user"

It would be a very nice feature if the admin could switch to "view as" different users and groups. Debugging/checking/verifying the group settings is very time consuming when you have to log out, log in as user in certain group, verify everything looks right, log out and back in again to make adjustments, repeat...

Hello wronan

If you have two browsers - ex. Chrome and Firefox - and you then were logged in as admin in the one browser, and in the other browser you were logged in as a user to to test for; could this not solve the problem.
Or was it something else you mean?

@sjohn: That would work if the admin knows the password of the user, but I guess @wronan needs a quicker way where he could just go to the members list in the admin area and click a button 'View as' or something ... and then he is navigating the application as that other user ... I like the idea as I needed it many times myself while testing apps, and it's indeed on our to-do list for future releases. Thanks :)

I see the point. Didn't think of the testing for existing users, that will probably have a password that admin does not know.

It would be great with a solution as Ahmad describes. This will help solving the "problem" that you cannot create records for a user, as the "original" user will then not have access to these records.

When it ( what Ahmad describes ) is made, the admin can click on a user and the create records for this user - and then the user will be owner of these new record(s).
You can then do this without the need for resetting the password for the user.
Well -maybe it will be needed to change the group for the user - and then back again.

Unfortunately it is only the admin that is able to do this.

When we ( hopefully ) will have the option to let owner of a record be the owner of a/the parent-record, then it will be possible that a cashier in a club can make economic transactions for/on a user, and then only the cashier and the user himself will have acces to seee these transactions.

The user because he will be the owner of the records, and the cashier because he is set up to allow viewing and editing.

It will be exciting to see what is on the way in a new release :D
