It would be really nice if those who receiving support, via this group, would let us know if the assistance they received was helpful or not. This would be useful for those with similar situation. There are a few who take and run.

Agree!
Would be nice to have simple Thumbs up/down (i.e. like Facebook) on posts?

Cheers, Ron

How about three clicks?

1. click post reply
2. Click on either the :D smiley if it worked or the :( smiley if it didn't work.
3. Click submit

That's pretty close to a thumbs up/down, just a couple more clicks.

However, to be truly useful, there should be more information provided. Many times the poster doesn't get THE EXACT solution from the forum, but enough information to direct them to a solution. That's great! However, there's nothing more frustrating than following a thread, thinking you might find a solution to YOUR problem, only to find it concludes with "Thanks for trying, but I got it working" with no clue provided as to HOW that was done. Such replies are useless to others, including those trying to provide help as feedback allows them to see where they might have gone wrong in either understanding the issue or presenting the solution.

That said, those useless abrupt endings are only a tiny bit worse than there being no concluding response at all.

A support forum is for complete conversations. They should continue until there has been a thank you and you're welcome (or whatever the appropriate handshake exchange may be.)

So says me, at least :)

My comment is that threads start with a question, then there is an answer, then NOTHING...
It does not matter how the final comment is make as long as we know if the answer worked or the user gave up in frustration. as long as we know...

Hence:

1. click post reply
2. Click on either the :D smiley if it worked or the :( smiley if it didn't work.
3. Click submit

The rest is just my frustration that threads all too often just die without any useful conclusion. Personally, I think while a thumbs up or :) is sufficient for a "Thanks, that worked!", but the thumbs down or :( is not much better than nothing at all.

But, to each their own, and as I said: Three clicks and you can have a smiley status.

...

:)
