Automatic child record owner

I have not tested the new feature 'Automatic child record owner' yet. Is it possible that the owner for existing data the child records automatically updates when you change the owner for the parent? So, does the 'Fix' function automatically trigger after changing the owner in the parent?" Thanks much!
