Hi,

Im a bit confused about the MIT Licensed term when i wanted to download the open source web application?

If i modify the code for example the invoicing to my own needs like user acces and add on my own extra functions, pictures etc and then decide to package it as a software and sell it, will I be allowed to do that?

Just to add to my question above, If i decide to start use the nothwind samples files and create my own extra tables and fields etc on appgini i purchased and generate this code, do I still need to include an open source licence?

Hi,

please see Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIT_License
Essentially you are almost not limited to what you can do with the code. Yes, you will need to include the license.
From the wikipedia page:
Any software licensed under the terms of the MIT License can be integrated with software licensed under the terms of the GNU GPL.[10] Unlike copyleft software licenses, the MIT License also permits reuse within proprietary software, provided that all copies of the software or its substantial portions include a copy of the terms of the MIT License and also a copyright notice.

HI onoehring

Please do you mind to put it in simple terms for me?

If i create and modify my own files created with appgini can i upload a website and sell a subscription to users to access that website and not have to publish my code online like on Github and keep it private as i wont want anyone to steel my business or replicate it easily at the least?

I want to purchase a upgrade to the appgini i already purchased and also the javascript helper and msg module but I first need to make sure of this legal stuff

Hi,

I am no legal advisor.

YES, you can do that (offer SAAS).
and not have to publish my code online like on Github and keep it private as i wont want anyone to steel my business or replicate it easily at the least?[
YES, you can do that (keep your code on your server and just offer SAAS).

AFAIK there are several people here on the forum working like you describe.
The only thing you need is to leave the copyright notice in place.

Again: I am no legal adivor.
