2 decimal-Fields

Hi together,
i have 2 decimal - Fields. How can i make a calculate function beteen the 2 fields like:
field1 = 500
fild2 = field1/2 (Read only)
..
I have test it with the Default/Auto-Setting of the field like: <%%field1/2%%>
but it doen`t work.
Sorry for my terrible english. I`m from Germany.
