5.94 and previous: Maintenance mode

Post by onoehring » 2021-03-07 09:49

Hi,

please improve maintenance mode.
Yes, the admin can turn it ON, but no one can turn if OFF again form the browser.

It's impossible to login - even for the superadmin. He should be able to login - always. And after login he should be able to turn off maintenance mode from the admin area. Currently one needs to use FTP to delete the .maintenance file by hand. Very annoying.

Hmm ... After enabling maintenance mode, the admin should not log out or close the browser. This would allow disabling the maintenance mode from the admin area. Please see this screencast: https://cdn.bigprof.com/screencasts/mai ... e-mode.mp4

Hi Ahmed,

sure, that would work. But updating might be a task that takes long: I had a migration last weekend that took about 16 hours as I needed to adjust the values in the database to a new database structure. So ... I did go to bed in between :-)
Of course, I can remove the file by hand ... but even other "super admins" could not log in (or I at another private browser window for testing purposes)
