5.91 image thumbnails regenerated every time

Hi,
when I open my page where I can see all uploaded images (combined TV+DV), it seems that all thumbnails of all images are being regenerated ... each and every single time:
The timestamp on the files changes to the time of opening the page.
I do not think this is practical, as, if you have many images it will take (very) long to finish this procedure.
