I tested on northwind demo site by IE9, IE11 browser that:
hit enter key after typing searching word does not trigger the action of searching, I have to click the search button.
this issue has been existed long time ago since v5.20 and blocking me using barcode scanner.

Pressing the enter key to quick search is unfortunately not supported in IE, but works in other browsers. We'll work on fixing this in future releases.
