A couple of weeks ago, our site wouldn't load. It just showed a white page and then returned a timeout connection error. The host said that they couldn't see what the issue was and suggested doing a recovery of the files. However, before they could do that, the site worked again.
Yesterday, the same thing happened and the host again suggested that the do a file restore. I sent a message back indicating that no one had changed any files so things were a bit strange.
I received a message from another of their tech staff saying that he had worked out the issue and that it was,
"I've done some further investigation, and the issue is related to the client login area/sign up.
The table membership_groups in the database keeps getting stuck, I've killed the query and you should now be able to access the page again"
Does anyone know why this would and what we could do to stop it happening again, please?
