Re: Android App to access AppGini

If anyone is interested, I found it much simpler to use this: https://appsgeyser.com/ No need to download and install Android Studio, deal with manifest files and java code, etc. Create a free account, and in a few steps you can create a free app. Select, Create App Select, Business (not Individual)...

Re: Android App to access AppGini

It would be useful -- for those whose only exposure to Android development would be the download and installation of Android Studio, and whose only interest would be to create an Android app to access their web app -- to publish a step-by-step on how to use these three files with Android Studio in o...

Re: Future of Appgini

Hate to jump into an aging thread, but... Agree. Switching to AdminLTE or similar would improve the APPEARANCE of AG. It does have an out-of-date presentation. However, it wouldn't necessarily improve functionality on it's own. It would, in fact, break a lot of existing developer's customizations in...

Technical Documentation in the designer

I am finally back to being able to do some development with AG. I am glad a feature I often requested - the technical documentation in the builder - is added. But I'm sad it isn't fully baked. Specifically, while I can enter and edit documentation in the builder app, I cannot view it while doing the...

Re: additional notes field in builder

I would like to revive this suggestion. I just went back to a project from a few years back. As I couldn't put developer notes into the Description field, and as I'd since misplaced or erased or otherwise could not find my notes... it would have been VERY USEFUL to have had app/table/field notes in ...

Re: [Need Help] JS Disable Select2 Not Working

Thanks everyone. For now - in order to move on to other things - I'll stick with my solution. Jan, it's an internal app in a small company, so I'm not too worried about anyone hacking. If they do and get caught, the owner would very likely terminate them. It's just a convenience effect anyway. peebe...

Zero. But... Well after (minutes) the page has loaded, in the console: // simple input field - found by selector $j("#vehicle_model") n.fn.init [input#vehicle_model.form-control, context: document, selector: "#vehicle_model"] 0: input#vehicle_model.form-control context: document length: 1 selector: ...

Re: [Need Help] JS Disable Select2 Not Working

I have found that using #ELEMENT-container does not work. I've tried setting multiple attributes using that selector and jquery seems never to find the select2. That's why I resorted to the "#parent select" selector method. However, that's a hack as it operates on EVERY select that's a child of the ...

Re: [Need Help] JS Disable Select2 Not Working

AppGini 5.72 Chrome 71 I did find a kludge by identifying a parent element and then setting every child select read-only. $j("#parent-element select").select2("read-only", true) This works for me only because when the read-only condition is needed it includes every select2. I'd still be up a creek i...

Hence: 1. click post reply 2. Click on either the :D smiley if it worked or the :( smiley if it didn't work. 3. Re: responce from those who receive assistance

How about three clicks? 1. click post reply 2. Click on either the :D smiley if it worked or the :( smiley if it didn't work. 3. Click submit That's pretty close to a thumbs up/down, just a couple more clicks. However, to be truly useful, there should be more information provided. Many times the pos...

Bumping this to make sure it makes the feature backlog :)

I know there are at least two others who have wished for this (or a very similar) feature.

Re: Automatically patch generated files: How to?

I used to do this, but have since made all my changes via the files in hooks. That said, back when I DID make changes in generated files, I never did find a way to patch automatically within the builder app. I posted a suggestion that the AppGini builder needs hooks to execute a command before/after...

I'd recommend investing in the Udemy course. It will have you teaching AppGini to sing and dance in no time.

Re: Make field read only

I'm not sure if it impacts the select2 library, but I'd check your results. With a normal select (or input field, etc) field, if you disable the field and then save the form you will have empty fields stored to your database. I'd recommend testing whether this is also true of select2().

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the code I suggested in the table's .dv file?

I don't recall if I ever tested it with a select control, but then again I might have :)

Re: New checkbox on field + new option in default >>Auto

Have you taken the Udemy course? If not, you should. It's well worth the investment. The course covers very nicely how to do everything needed in order to create pseudo-keys of the type you're wanting. No, there's not a specific topic on building such a key, but all the techniques needed to do so ar...

Re: New checkbox on field + new option in default >>Auto

For multi-field keys to work properly, the individual components should be padded to a fixed length and then concatenated. The issue of text case also has to be addressed. Is the key built using field values as is, converted to upper case, etc? And what of date values - are they used in text represe...

Re: Composite primary key

sjohn, As an author and/or contributor of several open source (and before that, shareware) applications, I can say with confidence that Ahmad has to also balance the complexity of each new added feature against his ability to subsequently support it. I see many things in AppGini that could be done, ...

Re: Composite primary key

I realize multi-field keys are commonly used. My point is, since it's not a feature AppGini supports, and I'd argue it's not a crucial feature in an AppGini-style application, then: 1. Why would Ahmad expend his time to add support for them into AppGini? 2. Why would you expend your time to find a w...

Re: Composite primary key

I have not an answer, but a question. Is your application so large or busy as to truly benefit from an optimization such as multi-field keys? In my experience, unless you're dealing with large record sets (many tens or hundreds of thousands of rows) or have a very busy transactional system - there's...
