Browser problem

Post by patsd102 » 2013-04-14 06:39

Hi all.

I have a strange problem. When i upgraded to IE9 , posting a new data line the computer screen goes black,
I think its something to do with the autofill.

Any ideas please

( i have rolled back to ie8 and all is fine again but users report the same problem on ie9 + ie10)

thanks

Removing the autofill file has fixed this, but still don't know why it happens in certain browsers and works in others

Hi,

Members using IE10 (windows 7) are still having this problem with the screen going dark/black.
Has anyone else come across this problem,

It's most likely because IE is a non-standards compliant browser. Microsoft has decided to ignore large swaths of modern web design standards for no discernible reason, so many things that should work (and work perfectly fine in good browsers) simply don't. For many years, web creators have had to perform crazy voodoo workarounds to get features and code that work in Firefox or Safari to somewhat work, or degrade gracefully, in IE.

Have you tried another standards compliant browser like Chrome or Firefox to see if it works there? I would start there, because that can help determine if it's a browser incompatibility. It could be the file you used as well. IE11 just came out so you may want to try that. We need more details to really offer more help than what I just gave. What kind of file is being autofilled?

If I understand correctly, this is what happens: You have a table containing auto-fill lookup fields, and when adding a new record and submitting it, you get a blank page in IE9 and IE10. Is that correct? Can you reproduce this issue on the online Northwind demo at http://bigprof.com/demo ? (you can use username "demo" and password "demo" to insert a record to the "Orders" table, which contains auto-fill lookups).
 AppGini plugins to add more power to your apps:
  • DataTalk is an innovative AppGini plugin based on ChatGPT that allows you to interact with your AppGini database using natural language questions, without writing any SQL. Check the demo video
  • Mass Update plugin: Update multiple records at once and improve your workflow efficiency.
